Founded in Montreal in 2005 by its conductor, the OVNI Wind Orchestrais a symphonic concert band consisting of fifty to sixty musicians (accepted after auditions). L'ensemble est un organisme sans but lucratif s'inscrivant dans le paysage culturel montréalais comme une nouvelle alternative aux multiples orchestres à vents existant de la région. The ensemble is a nonprofit organization that participates in Montreal's cultural environment as a new alternative to the many wind bands in the area. The OVNI seeks to offer its members an high quality musical activity where a strong emphasis is placed on orchestral tone quality, active listening, refinement of interpretation, humour and musical development. The ensemble is also devoted to offering its members and public a refreshing and contrasting repertoire and its high level of musical refinement is made possible by exploring different musical styles.

Just a few years after its foundation, the OVNI was quickly regarded as one of the best wind orchestra in Quebec.   The ensemble has won several top awards in festivals and band contests. Its sound quality and its humour are trademarks which have labeled the ensemble over the years.
